Dr. Amanda Callegan-Poche’ joined the Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport in 2019 as an assistant professor of Internal Medicine-Pediatrics and associate program director of the Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency program. Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, she's a Cajun from Plaquemine, Louisiana. Graduating salutatorian from St. John High School in 2007, she earned a magna cum laude bachelor’s degree in biology from LSU in 2011. She completed medical school at LSU Health Shreveport in 2015, followed by a combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency, where she earned accolades like the Continuity Clinic Excellence Award. Dr. Callegan-Poche’ is actively involved in medical education, supervising residents and contributing to student education. Alongside her clinical work at the Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport Provenance Primary Care Clinic, she is passionate about LGBTQ+ care, adolescent medicine, and resident wellness.

Dr. Melissa Albritton, a recipient of the SB Magazine Top Doctor Award from 2008 to 2015, is a dedicated medical professional at Willis-Knighton Endocrine & Thyroid Specialists since 2010. A Louisiana Tech University graduate with a degree in chemical engineering, she furthered her education at LSU Health Sciences Center, specializing in endocrinology through a residency and fellowship. Dr. Albritton's commitment extends to providing gender-affirming care, including Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). A distinguished member of the American Medical Association, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, and the Endocrine Society, she has demonstrated exceptional expertise in addressing thyroid irregularities, reflecting her unwavering dedication to healthcare excellence in the Shreveport/Bossier City community.

T'CHER NOLA
T’Cher stands for “Trans Community Health Education and Research,” and it’s all about supporting transgender women of all ages. Their Tres Cher, Take Charge initiative provides essential information and resources to help individuals advocate for their sexual health and well-being, focusing on the unique challenges faced by the trans community in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. With support from the CDC and the Louisiana Office of Public Health, this guide is a helpful tool for trans women and their families. Heather is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She hosts a free parent and caregiver support group for parents of LGBTQ+ youth, ages 12-14, on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 5:30-7:00 PM at The Highland Center

 

The Kennedy Center of Louisiana

The Kennedy Center of Louisiana is a community-based non-profit organization founded in 2004 by Ms. Tonya Williams, LPC & LMFT. The mission of The Kennedy Center of Louisiana is to empower all individuals to reach their full potential by supporting, teaching, and linking them to resources in the community. "It is our belief that all individuals are capable of success and deserve the same quality of life regardless of socioeconomic background and life circumstances. The Kennedy Center offers many programs including Street Outreach of Shreveport, providing youth up to 18 with emergency shelter, food, clothing, counseling, and referrals to health care, and Safe Haven, providing safe, stable housing and appropriate services to victims of human trafficking

VA Shreveport healthcare employees receive training in clinical care that is responsive to the unique needs of LGBTQ+ Veterans. Our trained LGBTQ+ Veteran care coordinators are fully equipped to support the health, welfare, and dignity of you and your family.

 

Mesloh Counseling Center, LLC
Mesloh is a group of counselors devoted to serving our community with dignity and respect to promote health and healing. They have provisionally licensed counselors (PLPC) and licensed professional counselors (LPC) with a wide range of specialized training to best serve you. The Philadelphia Center
The Philadelphia Center was developed in the spring of 1990 as concerned citizens were responding to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the Shreveport/Bossier area. Over the past 30 years, The Philadelphia Center has become the HIV/AIDS resource center for Region 7 which serves the parishes of Caddo, Bossier, Webster, Claiborne, Bienville, Red River, DeSoto, Sabine, and Natchitoches.

Reef Wellness is a local company comprised of multiple Licensed Professional Counselors that serve the LGBTQIA+ community. Reef Wellness clinicians understand that each client, like the coral reef, can have a delicate situation that they have learned to survive in. Our clinicians utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques to encourage and cultivate growth for each client to thrive in the midst of life's currents. Like the coral reef, you are resilient. Reef Wellness accepts major insurance companies and self-pay options. Telehealth and in-person sessions are available options.
